I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers since 2001. I hold a Master of Social Work degree and have a strong knowledge base in the area of trauma, specifically childhood and recent sexual assault/ abuse. I am deeply passionate about this work and thus have made trauma and trauma based approaches my focus since 2003. I hold a Trauma Certificate – Level 2 from the Trauma and Resiliency Centre and have taken many trauma informed workshops on a variety of recognized counseling modalities, specifically, Narrative Approaches, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Staged Trauma Therapy. I am an EMDR Clinician (as of NOVEMEBER 8, 2013) having completed the Phase 1 & 2 Certificate Training Course from the Niagara Stress & Trauma Clinic. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This is an evidence- based approach to therapy that works to help process traumatic memories and to reduce, manage or eliminate trauma impacts, specifically, flashbacks, dissociation, nightmares, triggers, anxiety, depression, self injurious and self destructive behaviour.
Déclaration personnelle:
Most importantly, I am a genuine, authentic, knowledgeable and compassionate person. I believe that clients are the experts on their own life and will collaboratively engage with clients in therapeutic conversation to bear witness to and work through whatever they are up against.
