Specialized Training:
I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My clinical approach incorporates anti-oppressive, strengths-based and client-centred perspectives. I provide individual, couple and family psychotherapy services and work collaboratively with my clients to determine the therapeutic approach to best meet their treatment goals.
I hold a Post-Masters Certificate in Advanced Clinical Social Work in Family and Couples Therapy and have advanced training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT) and emotionally focused therapy for individuals and couples (EFT). I also frequently incorporate mindfulness practices and meditation in my approach to psychotherapy and am a Yoga Alliance Certified yoga teacher.
Personal Statement:
Therapy is a collaborative partnership between you and your therapist, and although I hold a certain set of expertise, I believe you are the expert in your own life. I will always engage in an open and honest dialogue with you when developing your treatment plans and goals.
I believe psychotherapy can be a powerful tool to help you discover the reasons behind your patterns of behaviour and learn ways to change these patterns when they are no longer serving you. I strive to bring a holistic perspective to the work I do, taking into account all aspects of who we are as human beings and the environment and culture in which we live.
My approach to therapy draws on inspiration from a variety of different theories and perspectives depending on the issues brought forward, from emotion focused techniques, cognitive behavioral techniques, psychodynamic and family-system ideas, attachment theory and mindfulness-based practices.
