Specialized Training:
For almost 20-years, I have specialized in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced interpersonal abuse/violence and mental health concerns. In addition, I provide assessment and counselling in the area of parent-child/adolescent issues; father-son conflict; youth addictions (sexual and substance abuse); court involved/at risk youth; and issues related to adolescent depression, disordered eating, and self-injury. I also work in the area of men's emotional health, addressing such issues as depression and anger management concerns; childhood trauma; addictions; sex and intimacy issues; fatherhood; and martial/relationship counselling.
Personal Statement:
My approach to therapy is client-focused, individualized, evidence-based, and flexible. I believe that the therapeutic process is a joint venture between the therapist and the client, and that each client and family have unique strengths and needs. We will develop goals for your therapy together, and we will work together to develop ways for you to meet your goals. We will also regularly assess our progress together. Aspects of therapy are difficult, but there are also moments when laughter can happen. You can expect to be challenged, but you can also expect to be supported, validated, and respected.
