I have extensive training in trauma, addictions and mental health. Currently, I am completing training as a Clinical Traumatologist, EMDR Practitioner and Family Mediator.
Personal Statement:
I am a registered social worker with both The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the British Columbia College of Social Workers. I hold Masters Degrees in Social Work and Adult Education (Counselling Specialization). My background includes over twenty-five years of front line work in trauma, addictions, mental health, Hepatitis C, HIV, public policy development, child protection, social justice advocacy and working with families who have experienced conflict and violence. My work in addictions includes substance use treatment, harm reduction, withdrawal management, homelessness, concurrent disorders, including severe and persistent mental health. Currently, I work in the Addictions and Mental Health Program, Niagara Health System (NHS) and as a Facilitator with the Adult Education Program, Faculty of Education, Brock University. Lydia Mazzuto Professional Counselling Services mission is to provide ethical, meaningful, individualized social work services based on the principles of inclusionary practice.
