Specialized Training:
As a registered social worker and educator, I’ve spent years exploring the powerful connection between writing and thinking. As a result, I've designed a therapeutic writing method that helps people to dig deep into their thoughts, declutter their minds, and discover what's keeping them stuck and how to move forward.
Personal Statement:
During my 25 years in private practice, I used therapeutic writing as a complement to “talk therapy.” This helped my clients to gain clarity and move forward in their lives. And as a post-secondary writing educator for 12 years, I embedded the therapeutic concepts of expressive writing and freewriting into my coursework. In both situations, I repeatedly saw how therapeutic writing strategies helped clients and students to declutter their thoughts and move forward with clarity in their tasks. This is why I was motivated to design a therapeutic writing method that is accessible to everyone.
