Personal Statement:
No one makes the decision to enter therapy lightly, either for themselves, for couple relationships or for their children. This may be your first experience or it may be a decision to return to therapy. Not all therapists conduct therapy in the same way. It is my belief that ultimately you know what is best for you and your life. You bring to counselling a sum total of all your prior life experiences. I bring to the session my life experiences and training in a number of therapeutic models. These models are deployed differentially and may include a variety of modalities such as individual, couple or larger systems interventions. Together, it is a joint challenge to put together your expertise with mine, so that you may find the solutions that fit for you in your life choices. Therapy is done in partnership with you. This working relationship has a defined purpose, that being to examine the issues that you bring to therapy. I think it is important from the very beginning to invite you to challenge me and to know that therapy is not about giving up your power to a therapist but about asking for a therapist’s assistance at a challenging time in your life.
