Specialized Training:
After obtaining my MSW, I took further training in Narrative Therapy and Internal Family Systems theory to better support my work alongside individuals and families in health care settings. Much of the work I have done has been with someone experiencing their very worst day, and I am skilled at providing an individualized and efficient responses to whatever complexities have arisen. I’ve worked both on the frontlines but also as a university instructor to those wanting to enter the helping professions. This means that I have a strong understanding of the theories that hold up therapeutic work and am able to ensure that whatever happens to you next, it will come from a place of deep meaning and inquiry.
Personal Statement:
Some of the common challenges that I support people to manage include:
*anxiety and the wild ways that it convinces folks to doubt themselves
*answers to questions like “am I on the right path?”
*coming to terms with terminal illness. I’ve helped individuals and families to face the death and dying process with dignity and love. After, I’ve supported families to find ways to address loss and create new life meanings out of grief
*managing complex family dynamics, including separation and divorce, blended families, and parent-child relationships
*love and relationships of all kinds between all genders
*working through huge life transitions, like graduating from university, becoming single after many years in relationship, coping with “empty nest syndrome,” and changing careers
*navigating burnout such that it loosens the grey rock of indifference and locates meaning, creativity, joy and play in life again
