I have a specialization in child welfare. I have training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mental Health and Addictions, Violence Prevention, Trauma, Suicide Risk Assessment and Management, Mental Health Act., Occupational Health and Safety, and Indigenous Cultural Safety Training under the Provincial Health Services Authority. I have also completed a course by Health Canada as a Mental Health Professional in 2020.
Promoting emotional healing, social development, and the formation of healthy relationships, I have been counselling to individuals, children and adolescents, families, and groups to meet psychological needs. My services focus on mental health and addictions, grief, loss, trauma, life transition, relationship difficulties, emotional and behavioural challenges, stress, anxiety and depression, empowerment, and social inclusion.
As a Registered Social Worker (RSW), I am registered with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW), Registration #12060; BC Association of Social Workers, Membership #1007406; Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), Registration # 822698; and Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW).
Personal Statement:
I have over 30 years of experience in social work and community services with non-profit organizations, agencies, the United Nations System (ILO, UNDP, UNICEF, and FAO), and the World Bank.
Since 1995, I have been providing counselling and consulting services to people on diverse issues to overcome situation. As a private practitioner, I have been providing counselling and psychotherapy to people in Prince George, BC and throughout the Central and Northern Interior of BC on mental health and addictions, child welfare, trauma, PTSD, relationship, and family crisis issues to meet psychological needs and empowerment.
As an EAP mental health professional, I have been counselling to people with a wide range of life issues including mental health and addictions, trauma, relationship difficulties, and life transition. I understand how people get trapped in unhealthy patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviour and experience stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, and relationship problems, and a feeling of dissatisfaction and meaningless in life and help people to overcome the situation and achieve goals.
I conduct workshops, seminars, and group facilitation on diverse psychosocial issues including mental health and addictions, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, marginalization, and social inclusion.
I obtained my Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree with a specialization in child welfare from Ryerson University, Toronto in 2016. I obtained a Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) from Ryerson University, Toronto in 2013, and a Bachelor of Social Science (B.A.) from Rajshahi University, Bangladesh in 1981.
