Over 30 years ago I began as a paraprofessional and for the past 19 years as a mental health therapist/registered social worker. Some of the issues addressed include: family separation, divorce, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, abuse and neglect. Expressive play therapy is my foundation.
I completed the Infant-Parent Mental Health Post-Graduate Program from the University of Massachusetts Boston, the Adult Attachment Interview Training, Watch, Wait and Wonder Intervention, Child-Parent Psychotherapy and the Circle of Security Parenting. I provide home/place based child-parent psychotherapy.
Personal Statement:
For the past 23 years, I have been a practicing clinical social worker in the field of mental health. I use an approach called Somatic Attachment Psychotherapy: Bringing the Body into Practice, as developed by Dr. Lisa Mortimore of Victoria, BC. The approach is founded on three pillars: relational, attachment and somatic. The orientation, is founded on the understanding of the body, as a historian of one’s life and the holder of legacies of historical, transgenerational, relational and early attachment, and socially perpetuated traumas. I am passionate about my clinical work with adults. The adults who work with me have an opportunity to explore difficult experiences in a nurturing holding environment. As a mother of three adult children and a grandmother I smile and appreciate gratitude each day. As a mother of three adult children and a grandmother I smile and appreciate gratitude each day.
